Give Yourself Away

Today was quite uneventful, however I am all caught up with True Blood, including last night's new episode, and I am going through withdrawal. I finished seasons 1 and 2 in about 2 days, and although I feel lazy as anything for watching so much TV, I love love love the show and could not stop watching! I now have to wait until Sunday for a new episode, but at least I can keep up with all the talk and not have to worry about someone spoiling something for me! Besides True Blood, I have started posting looks on Chictopia! Although the system somewhat confuses me, it seems like a very welcoming site thus far! Well here is my outfit today!

Tangerine Trees and Marmalade Skies

This is one of the five, yes five, outfits I wore today. I can't seem to make up my mind about what to wear when it is so unbearably hot outside! I don't really own any clothes appropriate for the weather, but this outfit sufficed for the hour or so I wore it. In other events, I have been reading Silvia Plath's The Bell Jar. It is great so far, and I cannot wait to get farther into the story! Other than that my life has been video games. <3 Final Fantasy XIII is amazing! I am replaying Kingdom Hearts II as well. Oh, and I guess I socialize occasionally? haha That's about all for now!

Double in Brass for Urban Outfitters

While working for Urban Outfitters is less than glamorous (trust me, I know), their new collaboration with Double in Brass, sister company of The Lake & Stars, is quite magical. The line features lingerie that is sexy yet sophisticated and tastefully romantic. These pieces are perfect for the underwear as outwear trend that is taking fashion by storm with a color pallet perfect for spring. Here is a sample of the collection, available in stores and online on May 10th.

Georgia Alexandra Davis

Today I had the fortunate opportunity to listen to the wise words of stylist Georgia Alexandra Davis. The crowd was quite intimate, but I believe this only made the experience more informative and useful, as I feel I was able to somewhat connect with Davis by way of eye contact and the ability to ask questions more freely. Her path, from helping launch Greek Vouge, to working for Fairchild Publications, is certainly a sporadic and interesting one, and I feel so much more confident in my desire to be a stylist from hearing her experiences.

I think one of the biggest things I took away from the lecture is that each stylist has their own persona and aesthetic that they incorporate into each story they compose or look they put together. As for the stylist I see myself being: I think that I would like a hip, vintage edge to everything I style. Perhaps my ideal clientele is a soft spoken girl with unique interests who is girly but edgy at the same time. Think romantic hipster and we're on the same page.

Either way, I will certainly look into opportunities to launch myself into the world of styling, and I credit Davis with teaching me ways to do such.
